PRESIDENT'S CORNER - June 2004
Your FTVA Board of Directors is well along in the planning for this year’s annual reunion, scheduled for 23-25 September. With Social Chairman Chris Cook coordinating the effort, we look forward to another memorable weekend. Our banquet guest speaker will be Lt Gen (Ret) James Clapper, who began his active duty service as a lieutenant in USAFSS and retired as Director, Defense Intelligence Agency. He now serves as Director, Defense National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.
Base access will be a challenge again this year, but we believe we have a good set of procedures in place with the Lackland Security Forces. We suggest an early travel start for each event so that you are in place when the event starts.
For the golfers, we will return to the one-course format this year. That approach enhances the time and opportunity available for interaction with old friends. It also makes the logistics a lot more manageable.
A package with the event schedule and other essential details goes in the mail in July. Be sure to return your ticket requests as quickly as possible to insure we can accommodate your needs before we reach capacity.
These annual reunions afford us a great opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones, update our databases on what friends are up to, and remember those who are no longer with us. If you’ve never attended one, I heartily recommend you give it a try this year.
