B. MINUTES: The Board of Directors Meeting, September 9, 2004, minutes were reviewed and approved.

C. TREASURER’S REPORT: Bob Cope presented the monthly Treasurer’s Report. There were no questions and it will be filed for audit.

D. OLD BUSINESS:

(A) FTVA 2004 Reunion Wrap-up:

1. Maj Bowers the AIA major event coordinator provided a wrap-up for AIA. AIA provided outstanding support to make the reunion a great success. Maj Bowers is looking for his replacement for next year.

2. Grover McMakin provided a wrap-up of FTVA activities for the reunion. The Remembrance Ceremony went well; they may go smoother if we include the facility manager of bldg 2000 in the planning. The bag pipers did a great job along with the 149 ANG FS did very well in the fly over. A motion was made to provide a $100 donation to the bag pipers and it was approved; and a motion was passed to provide a letter of appreciation to the 149th. This may be the last year for the base vehicle passes. FTVA will contact Mr. Jones at AIA/SO and work with his staff early for the FTVA 2005 reunion. The Banquet went well, but everyone agreed it was to much food. In 2004 we will look at changing the menu. The picnic went well. The food was very good, and the soda and beer went well. As part of the continuity it was suggested that a diagram of the food booths be made for future year’s set-up.

3. Joe Hurst provided a wrap-up for the golf tournament. All went well and a good time was had by all. With the closing of the Valley Course he is looking for a course for 2005. No dates have been selected as of this meeting due to no Reunion date selected. AIA is aware of the dates that the FTVA BOD is considering (22-24 Sep and/or 20-22 Oct). Hopefully a decision will be made by the 19 Nov meeting.

(B) Support for the Winds of War – Human Experience: Doug Holden restated

Dr. Shirley Mock is still planning on presenting a support request to the Board at the November meeting for the Institute of Texan Culture exhibit.

E. NEW BUSINESS:

(A) Job Opportunities on the web page: A request was received to place job opportunities on the AIA web page. The decision was made that this would not be appropriate.

(B) Chapter Area members: There was some discussion concerning the size of a chapter.

It was decided that any area within 175 miles of a chapter location was the area for a chapter.

(C) Goodfellow AFB C-47 memorial dedication: The progress on the memorial was discussed and Grover McMakin volunteered to represent the FTVA BOD at the dedication.

(D) Sensor Olympics: Sensor Olympics Program was briefly discussed. There were 69 finalists in this year’s competition. A motion was made to give each Sensor Olympics finalist a one year membership. The motion was passed.

(E) AIA Ambassador: MSgt Knotts the AIA Ambassador for 2004 thanked the board for their support in 2004. The AIA ambassadors participated in 67 Fiesta events and 63 other events.

(F) Correspondence: There was a request for information to contact Gen Klocko, Cathy Johnson responded to the request.

(G) FTVA BOD:

1. Vigilant Partners: Okey Warden provided a report that as of today we have received $12,454 and he expects $1,750 more before the end of the year.

2. News Letter: Dan D’Apolito needs pictures of the picnic from the AIA photo shop.

The meeting adjourned at 2:30PM. The next meeting will be held 19 November 2004 in the SSFCU Board room.

Respectfully Submitted,
